How to Block on Hinge

How to Block Someone on Hinge
Blocking on Hinge works differently depending on whether you've already matched with the person or not.
If you've matched and are in a conversation:

Tap the three dots (···) in the top right corner

Select "Unmatch" or "Block and Report"

Choose "Block" to block without reporting, or select a reason if you want to report them simultaneously
If you haven't matched yet and are viewing their profile:

The block takes effect immediately. The conversation disappears from your matches list and their profile will no longer appear in your Discover or Standouts feed.
What Happens When You Block Someone on Hinge
Several things happen simultaneously when you block someone:
The match and conversation are deleted. Any active conversation disappears from both sides. Neither person can access the message history after blocking.
They can no longer find your profile. The blocked person's profile is removed from your feed and your profile is removed from theirs. If they're still active on Hinge, they'll simply never see you again.
They are not notified. Hinge does not send a notification when someone blocks you. The blocked person will notice the conversation has disappeared but the app gives no explanation. From their perspective it looks identical to being unmatched.
The block is one-directional but effectively mutual. You won't see them, they won't see you. Even if they delete their account and create a new one, Hinge's systems are designed to prevent re-matching with people you've previously blocked, though this isn't guaranteed across completely new accounts.
You cannot undo a block. Hinge does not have an unblock feature. Once you block someone, the action is permanent within the app. If you blocked someone by mistake, your only option is to hope they appear in your feed again naturally, which is unlikely given Hinge's matching logic.
Block vs Unmatch on Hinge - What's the Difference
Unmatching and blocking both end a connection on Hinge but they function differently.
Unmatching removes the match and conversation from both sides. The other person is not notified. Their profile may still appear in your Discover feed in the future, and you could theoretically re-match if you both swipe right again. Unmatching is the lighter action as it ends the current connection without permanently preventing future contact.
Blocking does everything unmatching does, plus it prevents the blocked person from ever appearing in your feed again. It's the permanent version. Use it when you don't just want to end the conversation and you want to ensure you never interact with that person on the app again.
When to unmatch: the conversation fizzled out, you're no longer interested, or you matched by mistake.
When to block: someone was rude or inappropriate, you feel uncomfortable, or you simply never want to see their profile again.
How to Block Someone on Hinge Without Matching
If someone liked you but you haven't matched yet and you want to make sure they can't interact with you, you have two options.
From the Likes You feed: When reviewing someone's like, tap the X to pass on them. They won't be able to send you another like once you've passed, and their profile won't appear in your Discover feed.
Block and Report before matching: If you can see their profile in your feed or Standouts and want to block them before any interaction, tap the three dots on their profile card and select Block. This prevents them from ever appearing in your feed again without requiring a match first.
