Dating apps are all about perception and your photos will make up the vast majority of how you are perceived by women who look at your profile.
I spent years figuring out what makes a good dating app photo, how to take them for myself, and then applied what I learned to get amazing results for my clients.
There are two main concepts we want to apply to every single photo as much as possible: being attractive and being interesting.
Being attractive doesn’t just mean being a good looking guy. It means optimizing your look and the quality of your pictures as much as possible. You want to make yourself the subject of every photo and utilize elements of good photography (angle, background, lighting) to make it high quality.
Profile pictures are judged on the following metrics: overall presentation, sex appeal, angle, outfit choice, facial expression, bodily pose, and background. You should optimize EVERY single metric in EVERY picture.
The second component of a good dating app photo is being interesting. You have a life and you’ve probably done some sightseeing, had some unique life experiences, or have an interesting hobby that you want women on the apps to know about. However, many guys make the mistake of only showcasing the "interesting" element itself (location, item, or activity) without showing how they’re personally connected or adding value to it.
A better way would be to place yourself in the photo in an appealing way. Instead of just presenting the intriguing element, show how you’re actively engaging with it and looking your best while doing so. This is especially effective in tourist shots, hobby pictures, or those taken during exciting moments. Ultimately, the most interesting part of the photo should be you.
